Arizona’s Holy Fawn does a beautifully crushing form of rock guitar that doesn’t fit neatly into any particular genre. Last year, Stereogum published an article about the many bands moving from heavy music to shoegaze, and Holy Fawn might be part of that wave, but that might not be the case either. For Holy Fawn, heavy music and shoegaze might as well be the same thing. Holy Fawn builds giant waves of uplifting brutality, and they do it without quite looking like anyone else. Soon they’ll do that for a whole album.
